Rotational molding is a high-temperature, low-pressure plastic molding process that utilizes heat and biaxial rotation to produce hollow, one-piece parts. During the heating phase, the mold rotates slowly in two planes (biaxial rotation). The process consists of four distinct stages: 1. A certain amount of polymer (usually in powder form) is loaded into the mold. 2. The mold is heated in an oven during rotation until all the polymer melts and adheres to the mold walls. 3. The hollow part should be rotated via two or more axes at different speeds to avoid polymer powder buildup. 4. The mold is air-cooled. 5. The polymer must be cooled to solidify and be safely handled by the operator. 6. The part shrinks and leaves the mold during cooling, facilitating part removal.

Rotational Molding Working Principle

The unique design of the Roo molding machine allows for uniform coating of plastic within each mold. The image on the right shows our standalone Roo molding machine. This is one of the most common machines in the industry. It has three arms. This machine is a standalone model. Standalone machines can provide up to three arms that can move independently of the other arms. This allows for molds of different sizes with different heating and thickness requirements. It consists of an oven, a cooling chamber, and a mold spindle. The spindle is mounted on a rotating shaft that provides a uniform plastic coating within each mold.
